Warriors U17 Maroons claim Overall Win
Approximately 30 teams converged on Pioneer Park on Sunday 6 August for the annual 6-a-side Carnival.
The U17 Warriors Maroons were Wellington's most successful side on the day defeating Cowra 2 - 0 in their final.
All the local Wellington teams had a great day of soccer and feadback from the away teams was very positive.
Well done to everyone who assisted on the day and a special mention to Wok & Pam Sheridan for their help with the catering.
Thankyou also to the Warriors Mens Team for supplying some much needed referees.
Seniors Night Games
Mens & Womens Warriors Teams played their final round matches under lights at Rygate Park on Sturday 5th in front of a good crowd.
The Warriors Men were pitted against NorthWest Falcons (Gulgong) in the 5:00pm timeslot.
Wellington opened an early 2 - 0 lead & never looked back. Late in the 2nd half they slotted a 3rd goal & the Falcons slipped one past the keeper to finish the match a 3 - 1 win to Warriors, placing them nicely in 3rd spot on the ladder & gaining a home semi-final game against Westside Panthers.
Womens Warriors (Div 2)
The Warriors ladies had the 7:00pm timeslot against Dubbo City Rangers (DCR) in a do-or-die match.
The game was a very tight defensive affair early on, but a lucky deflection & a defensive error saw DCR go to the break 2 - 0 up.
The 2nd half also started very tight but with the season on the line the girls moved forward to try & take control which allowed DCR a couple of late goals to secure a 4 - 0 win for the Dubbo side & an end to the season for Wellington.
Kyle Nonnenmacher was player of the match for the mens side & Jade Lang received the gong for the Warriors women.
The night games were a very successful event for the senior teams.... a great evening of football.
Womens Wildcats (Div 1)
The Wellington Wildcats held their sponsors day on Sunday 6th with a good crowd attending this game as well.
Wildcats thumped the Dubbo FC Bullettes to the tune of 7 - 0 in a one sided affair.
Another great afternoon of soccer.
U6 Best Game - Diamonds v Sydney Eagles. A smashing game by Addie and Zeb for Diamonds with congratulations to Alby for finally kicking a goal in the right end. A great game all round.
U8 Game of the day Orange Flames v Red Rubies. Outstanding defence by Orange Flames Rhett Austin with Ronnie Tandy-Bell on fire in goals. A good game by all with improvements each week.
U10 Game of the Round Swoopers v Manly Eagles. Great game by both teams neither showing dominance. Thank you to Demi Owens for a great job as referee.
U13 - D Team (5) defeated F Team (0) in an outstanding game by the girls. Callee Black and Willow Cargill for the D Team and Demi Owens, Airlie Mason and Savannah Lang for F Team were all awarded points for their efforts.
U17s turned in an untidy match where they went down to Newtown Devils by 0 - 2. The Wellington lads didn't get into their groove & some sloppy passes & lack of movement cost them in the game.
Blair Solomons was warriors best & was awrded the illustrious 'Golden Boot' for his efforts.
Warriors U13s were way too good for an under strength Dubbo RSL Lions, with the Wellington team running away with the match 6 - 1.
Wellington never looked in doubt, taking control of the match early & dominating all the way to the end.
11s was the local derby with Warriors Gold playing their training mates, Warriors Maroon.
The game was played in great sportsmanship was a very fair and skilled game. Special thanks to Jason Calicouras for refereeing the game.
Georgia Veech scored a cracking goal and Callee Black displayed brilliance in the goals. All players played well and enjoyed the opportunity of a home game.
