U13 Warriors win District Premiership
The Wellington Warriors under 13s side claimed the 2017 title in the Dubbo District competition against South Dubbo Wanderers (SDW) Eagles.
SDW took the game to the Warriors & by half time had a 1 - 0 lead over the Wellington kids. Geert's pep talk in the break again had the right effect as Wellington came out firing & began to dominate the possession & field position. A goal from Bryton Sarsfield evened the score & a 2nd solo effort from him soon after saw the Warriors with their nose in front.
It was a tense match but the Demi Owens & Airlie Mason combination sealed it for the Warriors when they cut through the SDW defense & Mason calmly slotted a 3rd goal for the Wellington side giving them a 3 - 1 lead which they held until the final whistle.
It was a great team win where all the players performed their part well. The kids again showed great fighting spirit to create another 'come from behind' win.
Coach Geert Woldhuis was thrilled with both the result & the way his side played the game.
"They showed tremendous commitment throughout the whole season both at training & at the games" he said, "I'd also like to thank the Club, our Manager Kahla Chown who kept the whole thing so organised & all the parents for their time, effort & support & especially my wife for puting up with my weekly ranting about how I should have done this or that in the game". "We all did it, every player & every person who supported us. Thankyou".
A good even game between Little Tigers and Sydney Eagles, Acadia Burn had a great game for Little Tigers and Markus Ivey was outstanding for Sydney Eagles.
Game of the Round was Amazing Goannas v Red Rubies. Good passing by Amazing Goannas players. Max Boland and Bridie Shanahan had a great game putting in lots of effort, well done everyone.
Great sportsmanship shown in the Manly Eagles v Kangaroos Game. A lopsided affair with Kangaroos too strong but good sportsmanship shown with Jackson Fisk helping out the Manly Eagles, well done Jackson.
