Wildcats take the 2017 Title

Wellington women win in a nail biter

Wellington Womens Wildcats claimed their first premiership title last weekend when they defeated Dubbo's Macquarie United in the Womens Division 1 Grand Final. The side have been knocking on the door for a few years now, but 2017 was the Wildcats season after they won a nail biting Grand Final via penalty shootout.

Macquarie United were 2 - 1 up as the match was winding down but a brilliant individual goal from Rhianna Sutherland who got on to a nicely weighted thru ball and scored, created a draw and took the game into 'Golden Goal Extra Time'.

A further 10 mins each way could not seperate the teams, so it was off to the penalty spot for a decision. Sutherland, then as goal keeper managed to save 2 of the shots from Macquarie giving Wildcats the trophy. After almost 2 hours of game time & then 8 dot shots it was a joyous celebration for the Wellington ladies.

Congratulations Wildcats.

Under 13 Warriors into Grand Final in District Junior Comp.

The 13s major semi-final against South Dubbo Wanderers (SDW) Eagles in the district comp, was also a close hard fought affair which caused coach Geert & manager Kahla plenty of stress.
The Wellington side struggled to get into their game groove & SDW opened an early 1 - 0 lead which they held right thru to the half time break.

The pep talk in the break obviously helped, as the Warriors forwards came out firing and it wasn't too long before Oscar Boland found the net off some good passes to equal the score. Warriors then ran a similar move down the other side of the field to put Savanah Lang onto the ball which she also slotted into the net giving the Wello kids a 2 - 1 lead which they then held to the end.

Player of the match was shared this week between Savanah & Oscar, but every player in the side did their job well. It was a great team win.

The 13s now get a week off whilst their oponents in the Grand Final are sorted out.

Under 17 Warriors

The U17s home semi final between Dubbo City Rangers (DCR) & Wellington Warriors was a debacle with the Dubbo Association & Dubbo Referees over-ruling  an agreement between the clubs to delay the start by 30mins to allow the Dubbo kids time to get here and called a forfeit against the DCR team.

Both sides were absolutely filthy with the stunt & have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Dubbo officials.

The 2 sides then played a friendly match.

Under 11 Warriors

The Warriors Maroons took on RSL Tigers at home and were the dominant force for the majority of the game. Wellington started off with a brilliant passing game creating options all over the field. A Lapse of concentration allowed Tigers to score a couple of times but the Maroons regrouped and ran away with it in the end.
Callee Black was strong all game and Max Mason was ever reliable in goals.

Warriors Gold took on SDW Blaze in an away game at Dubbo's Lady Cutler (7a) field.
