Visiting Coach from Real Madrid
Wellington High School received a visit from Real Madrid Foundation's Nacho this week.
The spanish coach ran 2 coaching sessions with students & worked on some "coach the coaches" sessions with teaching/coaching staff.
A number of our club players got to "hang out" with Nacho on Wednesday afternoon & he commented on the number (& quality) of female players in Wellington.
Nacho joined in with the students for their cross country "colour run" & some pizza afterwards.
Roster for this week 3 June
11:45am - Katie Hawke & Nadine Runciman
12:45pm - Katie Baxter & Nicole Shanahan
Featured game this week was between Paw Patrollers & Yellow Diamonds where all players were showing huge improvement in their soccer skills
Blue Devils V Orange Flames was a good hard fought match. Katherine Ivey & Zac Glencross having good games in the Flames & Logan Veech was outstanding in the Devils
Manly Eagles V Kangaroos was an entertaining encounter with Roos getting the better of the play. Abbey Milgate & Myah Hunt had strong games while Hallee Mcquillan did a great job in goal for Eagles. Roos Jackson Fisk was their strongest attacker.
Smurfs & Maroon Monsters battled a tight 4 all draw in the 13s this week. Hew Jones was on fire this week knocking in 3 for the Maroon while Marissa Stanley also hit the net. Over in Smurfs it was the Langs with Declan & Savannah bagging 1 each and Demi Owens & Airlie Mason netting the others.
Team B V The Wasps ended in a see-sawing 6 all draw.
Warriors - Dubbo District Comp
Warriors Gold played SDW Blaze @ home in Wellington
Warriors Maroon were matched against RSL Tigers in Dubbo
Under 13s played DCR Sparkey Rangers. The game started at a fast pace Bryton Sarsfield scoring within first few minutes. Very slippery conditions saw a few tumbles but noone gave up. It was a very hard fought game that the kids really enjoyed.
End result was 2-0 to Wellington.
Player of the match was Hew Jones with his exceptional efforts of defence for the entire game.
U17 had their 1st loss for the season 2 - 3 against a strong well drilled Newtown Devils. The Wellington lads looked good towards the end, spending most of the latter stages in Newtowns half, but just couldn't find the net for the equaliser. Claude Lewsams brilliant goal from a free kick was a highlight for Wellington, however Coach Damien Beattie didn't award the "Golden Boot" this week.
WesternYouth League - Regional Comp
Boys U12 played their final round in Mudgee where both games were losses.
The boys should be very pleased with their progress in this competition as their play has improved enormously since the start.
It was great to see one of the Bathurst parents complimenting the lads (& their Coach) on their improvement & sportsmanship.
Well done boys.
Womens Warriors (Div 2)
Played Gulgong NW Falcons at Gulgong in a chilly 9:00am start. The ladies made a good account of themselves really taking it to the Falcons early in the match.
The loss of midfielder Sally Nolan to injury & a contraversial penalty gave Gulgong the lead which they never surrendered. Wellington played plenty of soccer in Gulgongs half but just couldn't hit the net. Result was 0 - 2 down. Defender Tarni Hawkins was player of the match for Wello
Womens Wildcats (Div 1)
Convincingly rolled old foes Dubbo FC by 3 - 0
Mens team put in a solid performance to roll South Dubbo Wanderers (SDW) 3 - 0. Patrick Dandy nailed 2 & Kyle Nonnenmacher the other off a lovely Ben Turner ball.
The Wellington side looked strong all game however some wayward shots cost them on the scoreboard. Kyle Nonnenmacher & Damien Beattie shared the 'man of the match' award this week.
